Kudos, professor!

As much as it might gall me that there is a Nobel Prize in economics but not mathematics, I do want to offer my heartfelt congratulations to this year's laureate in economics, Paul Krugman.

I think it would be a hoot if he got a little liquored up at lunch today, came back to work at The New York Times and wandered around, going to the offices of Pulitzer winners and shouting, "In your FACE!"

But that's just me.

Bad advice - oh, I don't know. Krugman has had to endure a lot of sneering and sniping. He's entitled to do a bit of pay back but I think he's too much a gentleman to do so.

Yay Paul. He is a gentleman indeed. Did you hear him today- he was genuinely surprised and quite humble.

I would think that he could come back to work totally shit-faced and there's no way they could fire him. "Excuse me, Mr. Krugman, Nobel Prize winner, but I need to talk to you in my office...." Yeah, right.

Yeah, you can't fire a Nobel laureate on the day he gets the award, even if he grabs his crotch and screams "You gotta Pulitzer? Well, pull on THIS!"

I don't know if there's enough tequila in midtown for the shy and unassuming Mr. Krugman to wag his bone at his peers. But I love the image.

I'm very happy for Mr. Krugman, although like Jess, I don't see him taking your advice.

If Hollywood ever decides to delve into the Economics thriller niche, George Clooney could totally play Mr. Krugman.
