cute overload interlude

Opinions are split on the lolz. Some love them, some don't.

I think dguzman might enjoy this one, but no pressure.

It's not a serious rift in the community, like it was when CDP declared her love of Necco wafers. Still, I want to respect all my readers' opinions on this matter.

At the end of the day, it is my blog, and I get to decide what goes on it.

at a family gathering yesterday my sister was talking about adding another cat to their family because a neighbor family has a litter of stinkin' cute cats.

I asked her if she was a LOLZ fan.

Nobody in my family, not one, had heard of the LOLZ. Can you believe it?

My sister even accused me of having too much time on my hands (she accuses me of this for many other reasons).

Then I went to the computer and showed them I Can Haz Cheezburger.

Their lives have changed.

(and the :boing :boing :boing was a big hit)

I love LOLZ cats.

Jess, I'm glad you were able to show your family the light.

We are all ignorant of some things. I found out about lolz after I started posting regularly about a year and a half ago. I brought them up in front of one of my classes, lots of young people on the positive side of the digital divide, and all I got was blank stares.

"Is it like that cat holding onto the rope with the words 'Hang in there, baby'?"

Uh... no.

The first person who told me of their importance in the bloggy universe is my personal bloggy heroine and role model, Princess Sparkle Pony, who was nice enough to stop by and leave a comment on my first day.

My home cat invasion started in 2001 (the night George Harrison dies, to be precise), and I started my first blog in 2006. That made it impossible to miss the lolz phenomenon, but for blogging success I figured I'd start with giantess lolz. Guess who done stole my thunder on that.

I wholeheartedly approve of lolz blog inserts. Anyone that has cats and gives them voices as I do has been personally lolzing for a long time.

Catz are my favorite beasties, and I love their attitude.

As a kid I'd always make up dialogues for people and animals, and cats brought forth the funniest ones.

We can't have pets in our current rental, and the lolz keeps us goin', I telz you!

And have you noticed that the dogs site just isn't as consistently funny as I can has? Is it that dogs aren't as comically rich as cats, or is it that dog owners aren't as funny as cat owners?

Me dunno!

I am firmly on the pro-LOLZ side, as you probably know. Not controversial at all, unlike Neccos.

Karlacita! brings up a good point with cat lolz vs. dog lolz. It is my view that when you go past the cute overload jokes, which can work with puppies, kitties, bunnies, etc., it is easier project cynical motives on cats, and that is where lots of teh funneh comes from in lolz.

'Splainin' teh funneh... not so funneh, akshually.
